This is used to determine a precise elevation of the finished floor of a building as well as the ground next to the building. The elevations are then compared to the flood water elevation for the specific area. If the structure is determined to be located above the flood water elevation then a Letter of Map Amendment (LOMA) could be the next step to remove the Lenders requirement to obtain Flood Insurance.
